Whenever someone asks us the question, “Is it worth getting roof coating?”, we can’t help but ask them a question in return, “Would you rather pay to protect your roof or replace your roof?”

Roof coating is an investment that will save you from much higher repair costs over time. As far as roof replacements, roof coating can help to kick the can down the road so you can get the most life out of your existing roof.

Roof coating is the best protection against what damages roofs the most, which is long-term exposure to the elements like sunlight, extreme temperatures, wind, rain, snow, hail, etc. Having a protective layer will lessen the wear and tear on your roof and boost its resilience. While roof coating does a great job at shielding your roof, we always like to tell our customers that it is important to keep in mind that roof coating doesn’t last forever. So, how many years does roof coating last?  In general, the lifespan of a roof coating varies widely and can range anywhere from 5-20 years.

How often you should coat your roof depends on a few different things like the type of roof you have, the type of coating you choose, how thick the layer of coating is, and the age and condition of the roof before the coating is applied. Because every situation is different, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on your roof for signs that it’s time for a fresh layer of coating.  How do you know your roof needs to be coated or recoated? If you start to see signs of cracking or pooling water, it may be time to coat or recoat your roof. Even if you don’t notice some of these signs, it’s important to remember that the layer of coating will still break down over time and need to be reapplied for best results.
